In school I did projects with lots of languages: Java, C++, XML, Javascript, LISP, R, MatLab, Python, PHP, Assembly Language, HTML, CSS, SQL, and many of the accompanying frameworks. I graduated from university in 2016 and have been working for a consulting company working with integration and data services for our clients (which means I work with whatever technologies our clients need us to) Through these projects I've spent a lot of time with Javascript frameworks AngularJs, Angular 4, Typescript, Scala (a lot of Scala), Java, SQL, and integrating with third party APIs (like AWS, Fortigate, Veeam, etc.) I’m a technology consultant for a consulting firm based out of Dallas. This means that I am a full-stack developer: from devOps to User Experience, but what I’m doing on a project depends on what our client needs. I might be working on designing widgets on Monday, writing Scala services on Tuesday, and configuring server scripts on Wednesday. Sorry, no. My 9 to 5 job and side projects keep me busy and exhausted (and I need to sleep sometimes). If you've never touched a piece of code before, you should check out my blog post: So You Want To Learn How To Code? If you've already gone through school or a degree plan and have questions about having/getting a full time job in technology, feel free to shoot me an email and I'll get back to you! Absolutely! I have written things up for several publications focusing on women in STEM. I'm a strong advocate for women in technology and am always willing to do this for free. To be totally candid: I do development for 40+ hours a week and the last thing I want to do is go home and write blogs about it (also, there are a million other people doing that and technology changes so fast it'd be a lot of work to keep up with it). You'll notice that my Instagram handle is @JonesDoesLife (not @JonesCodes or @DeveloperGirl) and that is 100% intentional. People are more than their jobs, and I am more than just a developer, even if most of what I share is related to development. My blog focuses on social gamification: figuring out how to "win" at platforms that have ranking systems and the psychology behind getting there. It focuses on that because that's the kind of stuff I enjoy doing in my free time (much like I enjoy gardening and reading); it was a complete accident that my Instagram ended up being about what I do for work.
